CHALLENGE

Newton County Schools is a diverse Title I school district just outside of Atlanta, Georgia serving a high At-Risk student population with 69% of students from low-income families. Students historically have struggled in Mathematics and on the Georgia State Tests.

The Secondary Education Department led by its Director, Dr. Nikkita Warfield, aimed to accelerate learning outcomes and boost Math proficiency rates for Middle and High School students across the district while placing students on a College and Career Ready path.

Baltimore City Public Schools (BCPS) is an urban Title I district serving a high At-Risk student population with 84% of students from low-income families. With the changing rigor of Maryland’s College and Career-Ready Standards, students in the district were falling behind.

Community Learning Network #6 (CLN-6) led by Dr. Mark King aimed to accelerate learning outcomes and boost proficiency rates on the Spring 2019 PARCC Assessments while placing CLN-6 students on a College and Career Ready path.

Boosting Proficiency at PA Cyber

The Pennsylvania Cyber Charter School is one of the largest online public schools in the nation. The school chose FEV Tutor as an approved tutoring provider to support students in Grades 3-12 with coursework completion and preparation for Spring PSSA assessments.

As a Title I School, PA Cyber’s academic goals included boosting proficiency rates on PSSA Assessments for low-performing students, improving graduation rates, and increasing student participation in supplemental tutoring support.

ACCEL Charter Schools is a charter school network that serves more than 11,500 students in grades K-8 across various socio-economic backgrounds in the state of Ohio and nationwide.

In the winter of 2019, ACCEL chose to partner with FEV Tutor to help drive gains on the NWEA MAP Assessments and bridge skill-gaps in Math and ELA for students in Grades 3-8 across 9 of the turnaround schools in Ohio. These schools were the lowest-performing across the network, with less than 30% of students meeting grade-level proficiency.

The district chose to partner with FEV Tutor to help drive gains on the STAAR assessments and bridge skill-gaps for Special Education, ESL, and Migrant students. Historically, special student populations at Pleasanton ISD had performed below the state average on STAAR Assessments.

Driving Growth at Children of Promise Preparatory Academy

Children of Promise Preparatory Academy is a public charter school located in Inglewood, California. COPPA serves a high low-income student population (93%), and a majority of students are considered at-risk due to low-income status and low performance on benchmark and state assessments. In January 2018, the school partnered with FEV Tutor to help at-risk students bridge skill-gaps in both Math and ELA.

In 2017, Children of Promise Preparatory Academy performed better than only 0.6% of elementary schools in California. COPPA needed to get students additional supports to keep them on track to fulfill California A-G Requirements and place them on a College and Career Ready path.
